They do both; sometimes following the street grid, sometimes flying directly above the buildings. It is fascinating to watch them fly along the street. They have adapted to city life so well!

I find this very interesting. I wonder why they don’t just fly straight to the park instead of zig zagging.

Thanks! I forgot to mention in the post that the Hawks often fly along/above the street and not always diagonally across building tops. So those arrows were displaying his actual flight path.
