Yes, I don’t think we’ll ever know what happened to Sadie. Bobby and Sadie were so very dear to us. I know exactly how you feel. Thank you, dear Mindy.

If they end up having eggs, I hope the cam comes back on.

Hi, Alexia. Sadie’s eggs have been unviable for a long time so they will eventually be destroyed and new eggs will get laid in the nest (but not necessarily in that order). My guess is Juno will keep and reuse the current nest with a new female if he stays in WSP.

I do not run the webcam and don’t have control of it (I am only providing an embedded version of it). The cam has gone dark between seasons before so it should get turned back eventually. I’ll keep linking to it as long as it exists.

Thank you, Alexia!

Are they still in the nest? Might they be pushed out of the nest by other hawks to make room for new clutches? Or are old nests rarely re-used? Hypothetically speaking, could Saddie’s eggs have been adopted by another hawk? So many questions.

Roger, I am really sorry to hear about your retirement. You provided such a great service to wildlife enthusiasts, and probably inspired dozens of emerging birdwatchers in New York, myself included. Your webcam was an invaluable source of pleasure at work. You will be greatly missed, but we trust you’ll find new joy where you are.

Stay safe,

Alexia

It is terrible however there’s no indication Sadie was poisoned. As far as I know her body hasn’t been found (if he has passed away). The park does not put poison in the park out of protection for the Hawks.

I came back because I’ve spent many years devoted to it and was so shocked and devastated when I got the heartbreaking news today
I thought the city was not supposed to put rat poison in the park

No news. If I hear anything substantive regarding Sadie I will post an update.

I’m glad your daughter found a new kitty to love.

Or is it just unknown as to where she may be? Or what has happened?
This reminds me of when my now adult child had a cat who died and she sadly said in her 9 year old sorrow.
“this is what happens when you love someone”…telling me she would not love anything anymore,
Many conversations and months later , we did find another cat to love.
knowing anything is better ,for me , than knowing nothing…where is our Sadie?
