Red-tailed Hawk landing on nest, Bobst Library, NYU, New York City

Bobby at Washington Square Park, August 16, 2011

The first hour looking for hawks tonight was not fruitful for me until Bobby showed his handsome self at the Southeast side corner of Washington Square Park:

He soon flew from the corner of the building to a nearby flag pole atop an NYU building. I wish I knew what this peek-a-boo stance meant. Maybe it is a hawk’s way to look behind them without having to turn and risk getting blown off a perch (the direction of the tail feathers is in alignment with the wind):

Because we can all share..

Bobby flew to his old perch atop Judson Church just as the sun was setting:

Bobby looks toward the sunset:

Sunset deepens:

Good night, Bobby
