The Red-tailed Hawks of Washington Square Park, NYC… mostly
It’s gotten hot and steamy the last few days in NYC. The Washington Square Park Hawk family are sticking close together. Sadie and Bobby visit the Hawk baby fairly regularly.
Sadie was atop NYU’s Silver Center water tower when I arrived at the park today. She was looking right toward the nest:

I was entertaining out of town guests this weekend so here is a combo post of photos from Saturday’s and today’s Washington Square Park Hawk outings.
It was a cloudy and rainy day on Saturday but all the Hawks were doing well.
Sadie was at the nest the whole time of my visit, sticking close to the baby. You can just make out the black wing tips to the right of mom in the photo below:

Today was the first time I got to see the Washington Square Park Hawk baby flap its developing wings.Sadie was the only adult Hawk I saw during my hour long visit. She was pretty resty at first. She then did a lot of circling, flew north, then returned to the park to perch about.
