Bobby’s quick park scan (*video*) – October 16, 2011

After spending the earlier part of the day birding in Central Park, I headed down to Washington Square Park to see if I could spot my favorite bird of late: Bobby the red-tailed hawk.

After spending an hour and a half in search of him or his mate Violet, I spotted Bobby on top of one of his favorite perches:

During my visit he did not hunt in the park but merely scanned his territory:

I saw him for literally five minutes before he hopped off his perch and flew away for the night:
