A few rainy seconds with Bobby – November 23, 2011

As predicted, it started to pour early this afternoon; right when I got to Washington Square Park. I had hoped to steal a few minutes with the red-tailed hawks before the rain but it was not exactly meant to be. As I was leaving the park, I spotted Bobby on a branch. I whipped off a few shots of him sitting calmly in the rain.

Update at 5:04PM – A friend just let me know that he was looking at two hawks at the Red Roost Inn, the hawks’ regular night time perch. It’s nice to know Bobby and Violet are tucked in together on this misty and cold night.


Monday delight with Bobby and Violet – November 21, 2011

I am on vacation this week so today I had the chance to get toWashington Square Parkin the late morning to try my luck at hawking. I searched the grounds for the red-tailed hawks for about half an hour before I spotted one on top of a building on the east side. It was a popular perching building for the hawks but I’d never seen a hawk on that exact spot before. Seeing the new perch was a good reminder that they could be anywhere:
