Red-tailed Hawk landing on nest, Bobst Library, NYU, New York City

Saturday autumn hawking – November 12, 2011

Today was a beautiful autumn day full of sunlight, cool breezes, and leaves rich in browns, yellows, and reds.

After two and a half hours of searching throughout Washington Square Park for red-tailed hawks with no success, one was finally seen tucked in the night roost just after sunset:

I believe it must have been Bobby. I have no idea where he could have come from because he wasn’t seen in the park by any of the multiple hawk-watchers in the park today. No matter; it was still a treat to see him no matter the circumstances.
