Red-tailed Hawk landing on nest, Bobst Library, NYU, New York City

Rosie and Bobby’s quick afternoon nest shift switch – April 1st, 2012

I was lucky to see Bobby relieve Rosie of her egg-warming duties before I had to rush off to attend to my Sunday chores.

Bobby obviously had something in his talons upon his approach:

It was probably a rat since it looked gray and fuzzy. He’s such a good provider!

Rosie got up and left the ledge:

She had a nice time off the nest. She stretched her wings, preened, then flew to a few perches.

She circled the sky a few times before disappearing far east from the park. I waited a while for her return but had to give up eventually.

Standing directly under the nest:

Squirrel excited to find its buried nut:

The dogs at the Tompkins Square Park run having a blast:

Thwack!

Oopsie!
