Red-tailed Hawk landing on nest, Bobst Library, NYU, New York City

No notable birds to speak of – September 29th, 2014

There weren’t any notable birds during my outing today. I didn’t see Rosie or Bobby or any migrating birds either.

My search for the Red-tailed Hawks expanded to a few blocks south of the fire escape/Cable Building because I had seen them flying above that southern area a few times over the last month and a half.

I was curious to see if they were hanging out in that new neighborhood during this non-breeding season (especially since looking for them in Washington Square Park hasn’t been successful for me and a couple of fellow Hawk-watchers for about two weeks now).

All that remained of the dead pigeon from a few days ago was a small puff of feathers:

It’s a shame I didn’t get to see if it was one of the Hawks or a maintenance worker who removed the body.
