Red-tailed Hawk landing on nest, Bobst Library, NYU, New York City

Con Ed Tower Hawk, Washington Square Park walkabout – January 12th, 2016

I only saw one Red-tailed Hawk today, atop the Con Edison Building tower. A fellow Hawk-watcher informed me later that one of the Hawks was roosting at the Red Roost Inn this evening.

In all my years living in New York I never saw that workers used rope and wood ladders to descend into manholes:
