Red-tailed Hawk landing on nest, Bobst Library, NYU, New York City

Busy squirrel & Con Ed tower Hawk – February 22nd, 2016

I arrived at Washington Square Park during the Hawks’ break time today. My visit wasn’t a total disappointment since I got to see this little cutie burying some food:

A couple of helicopters circled low over the park several times. They were loud and annoying and I was glad the Hawks weren’t around to deal with them.

One of them passed very close to One Fifth Avenue:

I was on my way uptown when I spotted a Hawk on the Con Ed tower (Grace Church spires in the foreground):

The Hawk disappeared in the 2 seconds it took me to look at my camera, change a setting, then look back at the tower.

A fellow Hawk-watcher informed me that both Sadie and Bobby brought twigs to the nest yesterday so that was great to hear.
