Bobby’s relaxed evening perch – September 19, 2011

I first saw Bobby from across Washington Square Park just as he was landing behind a building he was seen perched on a few nights earlier. I walked the distance of the park in order to see where on that building he might be sitting. As I swung around behind the building, I didn’t see him but I did notice a pair of perched pigeons look up, freak out, and disperse a moment before Bobby flew over my head toward them. He did not stop to hunt but continued on his flight. It was so exciting to watch that silent flight and the flash of his red tail through the sunlight! He had flown in the direction of the park so it was back to where I started. Luckily, he was sitting on an obvious perch, a familiar flag pole.
