Red-tailed Hawk landing on nest, Bobst Library, NYU, New York City

Twig-gathering Southern Central Park Red-Tailed Hawk – February 27, 2012

It was wonderful to see one of the Southeastern Red-tailed Hawks flying in the air as soon as I hit the street in search of them:

It was seeking twigs for its nest:

It disappeared behind buildings and did not return during my visit. I waited below the Crown Building in the hopes it’d fly over me and land in its nest with the twig but it did not. I had to return to work so perhaps it flew to the nest not long afterward.
