Central Park lunch hour bird walk – April 26th, 2012

A Black-crowned Night Heron made a nice catch:

I last saw a Night Heron (a juvenile) at the park on April 18th.

Great Egret hanging out nearby:

The fish looked like a male Bluegill sunfish:

The heron moved slowly, deliberately, and in a shy manner. It is the kind of bird that doesn’t make a fuss or seem fazed by very much.

The egret noticed the heron had a big fish and walked toward it:

The heron saw the egret coming and slipped away with its fish. I took my eyes off it for only a couple of seconds and missed seeing where it escaped to.
