Tompkins Square Park Hawk nest, Hawk atop ConEd tower – February 22nd, 2014

I ventured out with a friend to Tompkins Square Park this morning to have a look at the Red-tailed Hawk nest I mentioned yesterday.

It was looking mighty fine:

I didn’t see the resident Red-tailed Hawks during my visit.

But I did see some of the park’s other creatures enjoying the sunshine and fresh water.

Ridiculously short branchlet to nap on:

As we walked west toward Washington Square Park, I thought I’d take a quick snap of the ConEd tower to see if there was a Hawk there like there were two days ago.

A Hawk was there! It looked a bit like Rosie.

After we walked a couple of minutes westward I stopped to take another shot of the tower but the Hawk was gone at that point.

We eventually arrived at Washington Square Park but didn’t see Rosie or Bobby there. They were seen there earlier in the day visiting the nest and copulating outside the northwest corner of the park so that was good.

Bobby’s rat remains from a couple of days ago were still at the base of one of the apartment building railings:
