Distant Tompkins Square Hawk, lovely weather for Hawking – August 3rd, 2016

Despite not having much Hawk-spotting luck lately, we’ve been having lovely weather in the city.

This Sparrow was hopping about on a mulch pile. It pecked at the bits and briefly got its beak covered in spider webbing:

A fellow Hawk-watcher and I looked for the Washington Square Hawks for a couple of hours today (in and around the park) but saw none of them.

My friend saw the fledgling and an adult later in the day Sunday and Sadie on Monday so the Hawks are around, just not when I’ve been visiting lately. 🙂
