Red-tailed Hawk landing on nest, Bobst Library, NYU, New York City

Hop flaps and papa on guard duty – May 27th, 2017

The Washington Square Park Red-tailed Hawk hatchling was in fine form during my 2 1/2 hour outing today. It preened, rested, and had some nice hop flaps.

Bobby appeared a little over an hour after I had arrived. He sat guard near the nest for an hour before disappearing south.

Bobby flew out of sight but a fellow Hawk-watcher spotted him on a regular flag pole closest to the nest 2 minutes later:
