Red-tailed Hawk landing on nest, Bobst Library, NYU, New York City

[Video] Local news story about migrating Hawks running into trouble in NYC – November 24th, 2018

I saw this local CBS news story about some of the troubles migrating Red-tailed Hawks encounter as they travel through New York City and had to share.

The coverage is informative and shows how much New Yorkers are awed by and appreciate these raptors!

I had to wonder if any of the featured Hawks were the juveniles I saw in the park on November 8th or on October 25th or if those beauties were simply two of the many migrants passing through.

  1. Civilization …controversial , in that we help and hinder wild life ,all in the same moment.
Safe Journey, beautiful creatures in the skies.
Thanks for bringing this “happy ending” story to us, Roger_Paw.

  2. Loved the story of the immigrant (!) taxi driver rescuing the juvenile, and of course the outstanding work done by Rita McMahon’s Wild Bird rehabilitation. Over and over they’ve saved 1000s of birds. That one was covered by NY press; I clipped it and sent it on the Cornell’s Ornithology Lab; don’t know if they get our papers, but for sure their RTH-lovers there would appreciate the story. As we who follow YOU, so appreciate the up-close-and-personal urban adventures that we love so much. Stay healthy, warm & safe!
