The Hawks take to the towers – March 1st & 5th, 2020

Today’s post is really a double post with pictures from March 1st and March 5th.

On March 1st we saw Juno and Sadie atop the Con Edison tower at sunset:

We watched them sunbathe and move about on the tower for around 35 minutes.

Today I spent 2 hours with the Hawks. They spent most of their time perched atop the Con Edison tower. I think I caught them mating on the tower but it was difficult to tell because the tower top ornamentation partially blocked my view.

Spring buds in Washington Square Park already:

The two atop the Con Edison tower:

I walked closer to the tower.

This is when I think I caught them in the act:

A closer and finer look at the pair (Juno on the left):

Juno flying off the tower:

Sadie flew off as well but I didn’t see which direction she went.

There was then lots of flying about for the Hawks but I couldn’t tell which bird was which at that time.

Flying past the Zeckendorf Towers:

Sadie back on the tower:

She flew off the tower again and headed toward Washington Square Park.

A fellow Hawk-watcher and I went to the park and found Juno on the NYU building closest to the nest:

One of the last pictures I took before leaving for the day:
