I’m out of town for a couple of weeks and wanted to share a few snaps of some lovely birds and animals I’ve seen during a few of my outings so far.

In Washington Square Park Hawk news a devoted Hawk-watcher let me know both Hawks visited the nest ledge today. You can watch the nest action on the live nest cam at this link.

Actually, the first heron pictured above is a black crowned night heron. Great blue herons have long skinny necks.
I know it might be hard to tell the size and scale of the bird in relation to the background and dock, etc. from my pictures but these were definitely Great Blue Herons. They had their necks all scrunched down as they rested (kind of like in this picture).
