I was in Washington Square Park when I spotted one of the Red-tailed Hawks sitting on the Con Edison tower in the distance:

I figured out it was Juno (rather than Sadie) by his markings/coloring.
In all I watched him sit on that tower for an hour before I had to leave.

It was fine though; it was so good to see him after my recent trip outside the city.
A fellow Hawk-watcher saw one of the Hawks in the nest a few minutes before I arrived in the park today and another Hawk-watcher saw both Hawks together in the park on Friday.

On Friday I had a treat as did my colleagues. We were sitting in a conference room having an important meeting on broadway near the park and saw Sadie or Juno – I think it was Sadie because of size and darker coloration – feast on a pigeon on a fire escape right outside our window. Feathers flew and it was very dramatic. Due to the nature of the meeting we couldn’t all stop and look out the window but still it was cool. Later on my way home I walked by one fifth avenue and saw probably the same hawk fly right up to the very top. It was thrilling!
That’s great! What a special treat indeed! Lucky you too because I hardly ever see her eat. Awesome!
Well, even though I would not enjoy watching her eat, I do wonder when they will be mating!
They are probably mating already; so far I don’t think any of my Hawk-watching friends have spotted them doing so this season (yet) and I was out of town for a couple of weeks.
