The Red-tailed Hawks of Washington Square Park, NYC… mostly
I didn’t see Bobby or Rosie in Washington Square Park today but a friend who was in the park before me saw one of them fly low above the park arch before losing sight of him/her.
Both Hawks were seen roosting together at the Red Roost Inn last night.
I did see new rat traps placed at the eastern side of the park:

– October 23rd: A fellow Hawk-watcher spotted Rosie and Bobby roosting at the Red Roost Inn (each on their own individual rung).
– October 24th: A friend saw a Hawk circling several blocks east of Washington Square Park (above 9th Street and 2nd Avenue) early in the morning. It then landed on and settled onto a tall building. It wasn’t clear if the Hawk was Rosie or Bobby or a different Hawk altogether.
In the evening I and a friend checked on a couple of the Hawks’ regular roosts and found one at the Red Roost Inn. I found out from another Hawk-watcher later on that the other Hawk was roosting at the first spot we checked; but on a higher level than our eyes were searching! At least they were both accounted for.
