Red-tailed Hawk landing on nest, Bobst Library, NYU, New York City

CP Hawks’ nest sites and Bobby and Rosie sightings – January 30th, 2013

I first saw one of the Southeastern Red-tailed Hawks fly to a window a couple of blocks west of the Plaza nest. (Correction 02/01: this building is several buildings west of The Plaza but not two blocks west).

There was plant material on the ledge. Was this window a former test site for these Hawks’ nest? Or is it still in the running?

Bobby and Rosie in WSP, Hawklessness in CP – January 29th, 2013

Both Bobby and Rosie were reported doing well in Washington Square Park this morning. One was at first perched on a building along the park. Both Hawks then wound up in the trees of the park (at one point on a very low branch).

My outing to Central Park today was not so lucky Hawking-wise but I did enjoy seeing the Wood Duck that’s been staying at The Pond and a couple of Cardinals.
