The first of the three Washington Square Park Red-tailed Hawk eggs hatched this morning around 8:30AM.

I captured the footage while recording the live nest cam.
This footage is of Sadie feeding the hatchling for the first time. The feeding occurred at around 4:30PM.
Bobby had brought the pigeon meal to the nest for the babe.
You can see that the second egg is beginning to hatch. Look for the developing hole on the top of the egg right in front of the Hawk baby.
Sadie is a great mom. The baby is really getting a large dinner of pigeon, thanks to Bobby. I can’t quite make out a developing hole on the egg in front of the baby, but I trust your judgment Roger_Paw. We might have two babies born on the same day (?) It’s exciting to see these new little birds enter the world. I love the cardboard. Looks like something Bobby would have brought. Thanks so much for the great video. Yeah, there is a divot in the egg and you can detect some movement at the developing hole. You’re welcome, Carlene!

This tiny chick does not seem as “bobble head” as in previous years…strong little chick
Precious scene in the nest…isn’t it marvelous how the chick knows to open her little beak and Mama Sadie knows just the right size of food to feed her little hatchling.
The “outside” world may be upside down , but it is just going beautifully right in the nest at Bobst Library.
You know, I was thinking the same exact thing; that this baby is much stronger than other ones I’ve seen in the past. Past babies have been so wobbly but this one has been pretty stout from the start!
