Pre-Hurricane Irene walk around town – August 27, 2011
I headed out for a walk around 8:20 this morning to take in the pre-hurricane sights in the city. As expected, the streets were pretty empty because that is typical for early morning in Manhattan on a weekend. And yet, it was eerie to walk around town knowing that intense weather was just hours away.

Beauty in Traffic Directing
I love watching the dance of hand movements and body stances of Traffic Enforcement Officers as they direct traffic. The officer featured in this video was no exception. If you look closely enough, you see her kindly smile at one of the construction workers and the waiting bicyclist (both of whom smiled back). It was also a treat to capture her and her coworkers share a bit of fun during what is probably a grueling job. Footage taken on August 20th, 2011.
