I visited Washington Square Park after work to join my hawk-watching friends who were present when Rosie and Bobby copulated earlier in the day.
Upon entering the park, I saw Bobby on one of his favorite flag pole perches through the space under the arch:
After ten minutes, he flew off his perch, swooped in our direction, flew overhead, and zoomed straight down to the Red Roost Inn:
We left Bobby to search for Rosie along nearby streets’ fire escapes, roofs, and trees. She usually flies in the same direction at night to go to her still undiscovered evening roost so we had a pretty good idea where to look for her. After several minutes and twists and turns, we gave up our search and went home. It was a fine ending to an exciting day.
