Relief. The plastic bag that was twisted around one of the hawk babies’ legs has come off. It happened early this morning. In the photo above (taken around 7:30AM), the hawk is standing on the very same bag that was wrapped around its leg an hour earlier.
My guess is the local rehabbers will get told to stand down and not remove the bag in order to prevent (unnecessary at the moment) human interaction between them and the birds.
Hopefully, the bag will get woven into the rest of the nest and won’t cause further problems.
