Hooray for the couple! According to Pale Male dot com, Octavia was incubating an egg in Pale Male’s nest Thursday (yesterday). This is wonderful news and I wish their brood the best.
This explains why she hasn’t been seen with the Plaza Male consistently lately.
I admit I am a bit sad for the Plaza Male though who lost out on having his chance with Octavia but there may still be time for a new female to couple with him and have his eggs in early to mid April (it takes about twenty days between mating and egg laying).
The only downside to this is that I haven’t seen him establish any good nest so if it does not exist elsewhere in Central Park or at a nearby building, he’ll have to either hurry up and make a good nest or try again next spring.
