A fellow Hawk-watcher briefly saw both adult Washington Square Park Red-tailed Hawks in the park yesterday, Saturday, so that was good news.

Below are some photos I took of some snacking Sparrows from when I was in the park on the 13th:

I caught a lucky break and got to see Sadie right before and after she caught a pigeon a block south from Washington Square Park today.

I first saw her sitting on a regular perch behind the Bobst Library (where the nest is located):

My better half and I went looking for the Washington Square Park Red-tailed Hawks today but didn’t see them.

We weren’t able to stay in the park for long so the Hawks may have been around later in the day.

Now that this year’s brooding season is over, they may take more extended breaks from the park grounds. This is behavior we’ve observed each year so today’s lack of sightings wasn’t completely unexpected.
