It was pretty chilly, windy, and overcast during my Washington Square Park Hawk visit today.
Sadie was on the southwest building corner when I approached the park:
She left her perch almost immediately then circled above the park square before heading east:
A Cooper’s Hawk zipped overhead 45 minutes later but I didn’t get a good photo of it (they’re so quick!).
I almost gave up on seeing a Hawk again so I went northeast to run an errand. I saw a Hawk flying toward the park when I was a couple of blocks out of the park so I turned back to do some more Hawking.
Sadie was back on the southwestern corner building:
Bobby flew over the park and headed east 10 minutes after Sadie had returned to the park:
Sadie flew north 7 minutes later then back to her perch:
There was no action after another 20 minutes so I tried to run my errand again.
I was happily surprised to see a Hawk on the top of Grace Church’s cross tower. This church is located on Broadway between 10th and 11th Streets.
Here’s where the church is in relation to Washington Square Park and Union Square Park:
It looked a bit like Bobby as it flew off the tower 15 minutes after I discovered it up there:
He disappeared northward, toward Union Square Park.
