Bobby provided mama Sadie Hawk with a pigeon meal, perched on a new spot, and mated with her three times during my hour-long visit to Washington Square Park today.
Bobby was circling triumphantly over the park with a pigeon when I arrived:
He brought the pigeon to a building outside the northeast corner of the park:
He swooped in front of Sadie and landed on the ledge opposite her:
She flew to his original building before joining him and partaking of the meal:
Bobby flew off away and landed on a heat vent nearby:
He left the park grounds and returned 4 minutes later with a fresh twig:
He promptly brought it to the nest:
He returned to Sadie 10 minutes later, interrupting her meal:
He then landed on the northwestern corner building:
Sadie stopped eating and circled with Bobby east of the park:
Bobby flew to the pigeon and started to eat his share:
Sadie flew to the opposite ledge again:
Bobby ate for 4 minutes then leapt off his perch:
He returned to the nest a minute later:
He flew to the west side and landed on a perch I never saw him on before; a decorative stone pineapple finial just above the tree line. It was a perfect place to watch prey from. I can only imagine how many times he’s sat there unnoticed while I’ve searched for him:
