Peregrine Falcon flyby, playful squirrel, and butterflies – September 17th, 2019

Mama Sadie Hawk was reported seen on a few Washington Square Park perches on Sunday, September 15th. But of course I didn’t see her or her new male friend Juno today despite searching all around for two hours. But a nice Peregrine Falcon made for a good raptor day.

This Falcon was circling a block east of the park:

It made a few turns before darting northeast.

A squirrel was having a ball rolling around at the base of a park plant. It would sink intself into the cool earth then do some more tumbles:

A few American Painted Lady butterflies landed on purple flowers at the nearby Sasaki Garden:

One of them jumped the other as though it were bullying it. No damage was done and they retreated to their separate flower bunches.

  1. Playful day in the park and vibrant colors w/ the butterflies and flowers.
    Thanks, Roger_Paw
Shouldn’t the little squirrel be thinking of filling his cozy nest w/ food for the winter?
