Double post time. I visited Washington Square Park yesterday and today but only saw the Hawks for a few minutes each day. Which is fine; any sighting is welcome.
January 10th:
I had no luck finding either Red-tailed Hawk at first despite some extensive searching.
I was at the tail end of my outing when I saw one of the Hawks atop the Con Edison tower:
It wasn’t up there a few minutes beforehand. I could only stick around for a few more minutes so I left not long after.

January 11th:
The park was holding its annual Mulchfest today (where locals drop off their Christmas trees for mulching):
“Dover” the pigeon briefly walked alongside another black and white pigeon (Dover’s in the back):
A couple of pigeon photos in an NYU window caught me by surprise; I thought it was a pic of a fledgling at first:
Juno showed up. He had freshly-landed atop One Fifth Avenue:
Off after a minute:
He flew low over the park square. Sadie then appeared out of nowhere. The Hawks followed each other as they glided south out of the park.
I went southward to look for them but did not discover where they went.
A Cooper’s Hawk scared pigeons that live in the NYU housing courtyard:
Quiet days are good days! Thank you for the walk around the park!
I agree. The less drama the better. 🙂
