The Red-tailed Hawks of Washington Square Park, NYC… mostly
I was three blocks east of Washington Square Park when I saw one of the Red-tailed Hawks flying over Bobst Library, heading south.
The Hawk, who turned out to be Rosie, was sitting on a water tower/heat grate on the NYU housing along 3rd Street. Bobst Library is on the right:

It was 29 degrees Fahrenheit when I visited Southeast Central Park today during my lunch hour. Cold and breezy.
Neither Red-tailed Hawk was around so I took a stroll around The Pond and otherwise tried to find some nice birds either in the water or in the trees nearby. There weren’t many around.

It was an easy, breezy visit with the Hawks and other nearby birds today.
One of the Southeastern Central Park Red-tailed Hawks had just landed on a Plaza Hotel light fixture when I arrived.
