I had a splendid time in Washington Square Park this morning. It was the first time I got to see one of this spring’s Hawk hatchlings peeking over the nest rim.
Sadie was on one of NYU’s Silver Center flag poles when I arrived.
Looking toward Silver from the east:
She jumped off the pole, circled around the eastern side of the park, then flew into the nest. I am not sure if Bobby had been in the nest right beforehand because trees blocked my view as she landed.The babies are at the age where the adults take sporadic breaks from the nest and don’t need to warm them/tend to them at all times.
She sat for a couple of minutes then tucked into the nest:
A fellow Hawk-watcher had seen Bobby earlier. We looked around for him but didn’t see him.

The baby tucked down into the bowl after a few minutes.
