The Red-tailed Hawks of Washington Square Park, NYC… mostly
I was getting a little concerned because I wasn’t seeing any of the Washington Square Park Hawks the first hour and fifteen minutes of my visit today.
I was happy to then see Bobby atop One Fifth Avenue:

As reported by Goggla, the sole offspring of Christo and Dora fledged Monday evening. Be sure to follow her site for updates on that Hawk family.
It was quite hot in Washington Square Park today (94 degrees) so I only spent 2 1/2 hours’ worth of Hawking.
Bobby sat guard on the Education Building flag pole (the one closest to the nest) almost the whole time.
The fledgling was likely hiding out/napping in the shade because a fellow Hawk-watcher and I looked for her much but didn’t see her once.
She was seen flying strongly from one building to another and back in one swoop last night so I was not worried about her capabilities but it would have been lovely to see her.
