Sadie laid her third egg of 2019 at 2:08PM today. I recorded the live nest cam footage in the video below.
I noticed she was in labor at 2:04PM. It was at 2:08PM when she laid her 3rd egg.
Sadie stood up tall in the nest not long after laying her egg. The latter part of this footage is of Sadie’s mate Bobby visiting the nest a few minutes afterward and having a look at the eggs.
I recorded the first two egg-layings of this season as well.
March 15th – You can see the first egg at the 1:46 mark in this video.
March 18th – The second egg can be seen at the 30 second mark here.
Sadie and Bobby will be busy with three mouths to feed.
Thanks for this Roger Paw.
Yes! The park rats are on notice. ๐
So nice to see them working together; and a third egg. Well done, Bobbie and Sadie!
They are a great team. Thanks, Carole!
They look like proud parents looking at their kids in the nursery! So sweet to see Sadie rolling the eggs. Amazing that that instinct is in place in a tiny โbird brainโ!
Thanks as always for the time you spend on our favorite RTHโs!
Thanks, Karen! They are so attentive and gentle with their eggs and hatchlings. And we are so lucky to be able to watch it all unfold.
I wish we knew which egg was the first ,so as to keep track of the hatchlings, but the eggs do not
come w/ magic marker numbers 1-2 -3 on them.
Beautiful eggs and proud parents.
This egg seemed to arrive so quickly and Sadie appeared not to need to “work at it”
Thanks, Roger_Paw.
Now we can settle down and wait for the next wonder to behold…those darling little white
“bobble head” hawks to clutter up the nest.
Luck was on my side to be watching the cam just as the eggs were about to be laid. We should be done for eggs this year. I have read that Red tails can lay up to 4 eggs but that has never happened with these Hawks. The most they’ve ever laid was three eggs. But like I’ve said before, these Hawks are always surprising us!
Indeed! Thanks to the moderator, idk if that is you or mrpaw, but thank you for catching my mistake of posting my last name by mistake!
Yup, that was me. I took care of ya. ๐
Congratulations Sadie and Bobby! The sweetest part of the video was the watchful gaze of the two parents on the three eggs. Wow…watch out world! Here come 3 hungry mouths that will need a feast daily…so happy for this beautiful Hawk family. Missed all of the excitement today but the videos are fantastic, thank you for posting them!
You are welcome! I’m glad I was there to capture the moments. If all three eggs hatch we are going to have a busy summer chasing these guys through the trees! Looking forward to it. ๐
One other thing, I hope the construction crew below are not doing work that includes too much noise for “our family” above. I am worried for them. That video is addictive…going to watch it once more! ๐
