Red-tailed Hawk landing on nest, Bobst Library, NYU, New York City

Sadie and Juno together uptown – February 22nd, 2020

I saw one Red-tailed Hawk fly along the eastern border of Washington Square Park at the start of my visit. But that was only for a few seconds.

I spotted one of the Hawks on top of the Con Edison tower in the distance (as I have over my last few visits) a few minutes later.

A fellow Hawk-watcher and I walked north to Union Square Park to get closer to the tower.

We were just a block south of the park when we saw Sadie circling above it:

She disappeared behind the buildings.

The bee nest I first photographed on January 29th was still on its tree but missing a few of its combs:

We got to a better view of the Con Ed building and saw Juno sitting on the very top:

My friend and I stood around waiting for some action but Juno was obviously quite restful so we left him. We looked for Sadie again but didn’t find her. I turned around to check on Juno on the tower about 5 minutes later but he was gone.
