Special Topic: Mating

Although my photos did not turn out well, the experience of seeing Bobby and Rosie mate this afternoon was delightful.

As spring time approaches, the birds and the bees are gearing up for their next broods.

A couple of weekends ago I saw these geese preening next to each other on the water by Central Park’s Belvedere Castle. Little did I expect for them to start mating.

I received the report from JumpFlapper who witnessed the event with other Hawk-watchers in Washington Square Park today.

Rosie and Bobby were seen copulating on the Judson Memorial Church cross at roughly 3:50PM today.

This is very exciting news. I hope they mate (or have been mating) often so the chance of them having a successful brood in the spring increases manyfold.
